LPS2b - Portable Loop Power Supply
Provides the technician with a portable 24V
power source for powering field transmitters.
During startups, shutdowns, and overhaul periods, field loops are not usually energized;
yet the technician is still expected to be able
to install, test and calibrate field instruments.
The LPS2b fills this need.
- Provides regulated 24VDC
- Power transmitters and other 24VDC
devices for hours off 4 AA batteries.
- Rechargeable
- The LPS2b uses standard AA batteries that are
available in rechargeable NiCd and NiMh from standard distributors such as
Radio Shack™. The LPS2b has a low battery cut off circuit to prevent over
discharge of rechargeable batteries.
- Small size
- Convenient, rugged, go-anywhere case
is toolbox tough and housed in a 5.8" x 3.6" x 1.3" package.
- Low noise
- Will not interfere with smart transmitter
communications
- ON/OFF switch
- Disconnects the battery from the internal 24V boost converter. The
quiescent operating current of the internal power supply is approximately
110uA. This results in a battery drain of only 1% per 24 hour period if the
unit is left on with no load.
- Output Terminals
- the 24V output terminals are flush mounted miniature banana jacks.
- Current Monitor Jack
- The current monitor jack is a normally closed, 2.1 x 5.5 mm DC jack in
series with the 24V output. To power a transmitter and simultaneously
monitor the loop current, insert the current monitor cable into the current
monitor jack and attach the other end to a reference milliammeter.
