My granddaughter Rebecca won first place in a county wide poetry contest. Here is her winning entry.

Snowfall

Outside the chilling cold, blows upon by door.

I only wished one simple thing and not a single thing more.

It's been freezing cold for days on end but not one flake of snow.

The church bells of midnight are almost yet to toll.

I sat on the sofa with a sign about to turn on the t.v.

When a breeze whipped my cheek, like the slap of a playful sea.

I thought to myself I had forgotten to shut the front door.

So I got on my feet and walked to the door that was opened wide.

When I thought I would go take one quick look outside.

I looked up at the clear blue sky now wide awake,

When on my cheek fell one single snow flake.
